Program Manager - PRO ARTS

Pro Arts won the recognition of the Andy Warhol Foundation for the Visual Arts, the NEA and CA Arts Council this year. We produce East Bay Open Studios featuring over 400 artists in the East Bay; juried exhibitions, commissioning programs, independent curated exhibitions and programs to support art-making by artists across different stages of their careers. We produce 15 exhibitions annually, exhibit over 500 artists, and present regular events and activities including capacity-building workshops for artists, public receptions, artists' talks, advocacy actions, artists-in-the schools programs, open mics, concerts and multidisciplinary events and more.
The Program Manager is a key leadership position in this thriving community development, arts-based organization located in Downtown Oakland. Pro Arts advocates for artists and provides critical access to contemporary art in the Oakland/Bay Area. We serve as a regional hub for arts activities, exhibitions, advocacy, arts education and artist services.
The position offers dynamic opportunity in leadership, artistic vision, community development, marketing and communications. The Program Manager is part of the leadership team that consists of three full time staff with several part-time/on-call staff. Duties range from creating artist networks, working with curators and jurors, leading major community development partnerships and managing the door for concerts and special events. This is an 'all hands on deck', fast-paced, 'get your hands dirty' work environment. We are a small organization with amazing momentum and impact.

● Build partnerships across the arts, business and community development sectors

Education & Experience
□ Four years of progressive professional experience in program development, including two years in one or more of the following: exhibition coordination, curating, and arts administration.
□ BA in Arts field or equivalent (MA preferred)

Knowledge & Skills
□ Professional knowledge of contemporary arts and community arts fields
□ Strong organizational and time management skills with exceptional attention to detail
□ Excellent judgment and creative problem solving skills, including negotiation and facilitation skills
□ Dedication to creativity, accountability and strong work ethic
□ Ability to track multiple projects and effectively navigate competing priorities
□ Strong networking and relationship building skills across diverse stakeholder groups- artists, curators, partners and supporters
□ Exemplary writing and communication skills
□ Ability to safely lift and carry 40 lbs
□ Professional computing skills in Excel, Word, Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop

The full-time Program Manager position is supervised by the Executive Director; requires regular availability Tuesday through Saturday including weekday evenings for gallery hours and events; Beginning salary $2,919 monthly (with health and vacation benefits.)
