JOB OPENING AT THE CHINESE PROGRESSIVE ASSOCIATION - SAN FRANCISCO

Position: Community and Civic Engagement Organizer (FULL-TIME)

Organizational Description: Founded in 1972, the Chinese Progressive
Association (CPA) is a grassroots membership-based organization that
empowers the Chinese community in San Francisco and promotes justice and
equality for all people. CPA?s campaigns and programs improve the working
and living conditions of low-income immigrants and mobilize community
members to make a stronger voice in the decision-making processes. Our
core strategies are
organizing, leadership development and alliance building.

Job Description: The organizer position is responsible for supporting the
cross-program collaboration and civic engagement work between the adult
and youth membership programs which includes electoral, budget advocacy
and organizational campaign issues. This position will supervised by a
member of the Leadership Team.

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Campaign Organizing
? Develop and conduct relevant trainings for staff and members for
campaigns
? Support staff coordination of advocacy, canvassing, outreach and direct
action on
campaigns
? Conduct strategic targeting through demographic and electoral research
? Provide feedback and evaluation for members in
? Assist in research and development of political education curriculum for
emerging organizational and community issues and program campaigns, as
needed.
? Assist in research and tracking of electoral, budget and community
issues

Base-Building and Community Collaboration
? Coordinate base-building events and activities to incorporate
organizational priorities
? Develop and Coordinate CPA Activist Membership Network to participate in
campaigns and organizational priorities
? Assist with coordinating the Eva Lowe Fellowship for Social Justice

Communications
? Assist in developing content and communications materials
? Support in translation and interpretation, as needed

Infrastructure
? Assist in developing and implement systems for tracking data (i.e. walk
lists, phone lists,
membership list)
? Support overall technology needs (i.e. using the VAN system, printing
lists, database)
? Support with admin and data entry needs

Miscellaneous
? Participate in staff meetings and discussions as needed
? Support other CPA activities as needed

QUALIFICATIONS:
? Knowledge of issues impacting low-wage immigrant Chinese community in
San Francisco
? Commitment to social, economic and environmental justice and bottom-up
social change
? Previous labor or community organizing experience preferred
? Experience in leadership development and education preferred
? Ability to work effectively with low-wage Chinese immigrant workers
? Strong organizational and communication skills
? Fluency in English required, fluency in Cantonese and Mandarin strongly
preferred.

Salary and Benefits: DOE, with good benefits package
