SF Bicycle Coalition: Hiring Temporary Communications Director

The San Francisco Bicycle Coalition is looking for a smart, savvy communications professional to advance our work promoting the bicycle for everyday transportation. This is a temporary, contract position of up to three months during our busiest time of the year.

With the approach of two major, annual San Francisco Bicycle Coalition events — Bike to Work Day, May 12, and our Golden Wheel Awards party, June 15 — we are looking for someone who is, first and foremost, experienced and enthusiastic to design and lead our media strategy and outreach at this busy time.

The right fit for this role will be someone who can also oversee the Coalition’s ongoing communications work, including development of the printed newsletter; member email bulletins; website and social media updates; and graphic design oversight.

The right skills for this position include:
- Strong familiarity and experience working with local media outlets, including social media;
- Familiarity with Wordpress, Network for Good/Emma, Adobe CS5, Basecamp, Salesforce;
- Experience managing others, including volunteers, interns, graphic designers;
- Experience as a project manager.

While we could surely engage this position full-time, we are open to a skilled leader helping us get the job done in fewer hours – so consider us flexible. In-office time working directly with our team will be important. The position will report to the Coalition’s Executive Director and work closely with a talented team of staff, interns, and volunteers.

If you are interested, please send the following: a letter of interest, resume, writing sample and three references by April 18th to leah@sfbike.org (Subject line: Communications Director).
