Director of Marketing and Development, Boys & Girls Clubs of North San Mateo County

FULL TIME/EXEMPT POSITION

ABOUT US: Boys & Girls Clubs of North San Mateo County offers programs for children and youth during after school hours in 3 clubhouses and 2 school-based sites in South San Francisco and Pacifica. Our clubs offer dynamic, low-cost or free programs supporting academic success, leadership development, arts, technology, sports and recreation for members ages 6-18. Our vision for children and youth is that 1) Every child will have a positive sense of self, 2) Every child will be physically active every day, and 3) Every child will learn to read on time by third grade.

PRIMARY FUNCTION:
The Director of Marketing and Development will be responsible for developing and implementing all aspects of resource development, marketing and communications for the agency. The Director will oversee marketing and development volunteers to assist in implementation of tasks.

KEY ROLES:
Grant-writing (45% time)
 Research, identify, write, and prepare grant proposals for submission to government, corporate and foundation funding sources
 Coordinate with necessary internal and external partners to gather information for grant submissions
 Develop and maintain relationships with key funders; develop innovative methods for regularly informing them of Club progress and activities
 Submit required reports to funders
 Occasionally oversee contract grant-writers

Special Events/Bingo (30% time)
 Provide direction for bingo games in South San Francisco (Sunday, Monday evenings) and Pacifica (Thursday evenings); attend at least one game weekly
 Supervise and work closely with Bingo Coordinator to develop strategies to increase bingo income and attendance
 Garner in-kind donations and sponsorships for bingo and other special events
 Coordinate Youth of the Year event in conjunction with program staff

Individual Donor Development (10%)
 In conjunction with Executive Director, support and provide training for Board of Directors in developing and implementing annual giving strategies
 In conjunction with Executive Director and Board of Directors, devise strategies to increase individual donations
 Oversee Donor Perfect Online database
 Develop innovative methods for regularly communicating with donors
 Thank donors in appropriate and timely manner

Marketing and Communications (10%)
 Oversee development of marketing materials for recruitment and fundraising purposes
 Oversee marketing and communications volunteers
 Develop regular content for website
 Oversee and develop content for social networking sites Develop and distribute press releases
 Develop and maintain relationships with area media outlets

Administrative (5%)
 Track status of grants and reports
 Prepare reports for Executive Director and Board upon request
 Participate in staff meetings, trainings, and other required events
 Other duties as assigned

SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED:
 Extensive, demonstrated experience in key job functions required
 At least 5 years experience in leadership role in fundraising required
 Excellent writing and speaking skills required
 Excellent technical skills required--competence in Microsoft Office, donor databases, and design software required
 Familiarity with South San Francisco and Pacifica communities preferred
 Familiarity with bingo preferred
 Familiarity with youth development principles preferred
 Ability to engage respectfully with donors, youth, the general public, parents, co- workers, and community partners required
