Architectural Project Manager

Project Manager: Thomas Dolan Architecture

TDA, an award-winning Oakland firm, is looking for a lead project manager
with a minimum of 3-5 years experience in wood frame and concrete design and
construction of multi-family housing and mixed use development; an
architectural license is not required but would be considered a plus.

As a potential member of TDA¹s staff, you:

* Have a positive, flexible, can-do attitude and an upbeat, optimistic
spirit that communicates well with clients and associates.
* Are a strong designer at all scales, from conceptual to detailing, and
are comfortable working out designs in hand drawn sketches as well as 3D
modeling software.
* Are experienced at carrying projects through from beginning of design
to completion of construction, including managing a team internally and
coordinating project consultants as well as approval processes and
client interactions.
* Have some prior experience with green design and the ability to
pragmatically integrate such ideas and methods into a project with a
budget.

We are a small office that of about seven people at present, specializing in
live/work, multi-family housing and mixed use development. Please see our
work at http://www.live-work.com. Upcoming projects include 72 units of
affordable housing, and 97 units of mixed use work/live and housing. Both
projects are transit-oriented, being within a block of two different BART
stations.

While TDA designs primarily individual buildings, a portion of our work is
urban design, and an understanding of and some experience in urban
design‹one that is reflected in your design sensibility and portfolio--is
important. All of our projects are urban infill, and as Charter Members of
the Congress for the New Urbanism, this is an intentional commitment. TDA
designed the first new construction live/work projects ever built in the
United States. Thomas Dolan consults and writes codes for live/work in
cities all over North America, and is presently writing a book on the
subject, with a foreward by CNU founder Andres Duany.

We are an all-Macintosh office and we do our primary drafting in
Vectorworks, increasingly augmented by 3D design work in Sketchup. We offer
flexible hours and are open to partial telecommuting as appropriate to the
current job situation. TDA is located West of Jack London Square, and is a
thirteen minute walk from BART.

TDA offers competitive pay rates commensurate with experience, health
benefits, a profit sharing program, 401K retirement benefits, Commuter
Checks, and paid vacations and personal days. The atmosphere in our office
is casual and friendly, yet we produce work that displays a level of
professionalism that an office of any size would be proud of. If you are
interested in joining us, we would like to hear from you.
Please email td.arch@live-work.com with the following, all in pdf format:
1. cover letter explaining why you are interested in the position, and why
we should consider you.
2. Your Resume/CV.
