Treasure Island Job Corps Center located in San Francisco has an opening for a Student Records Manager.Treasure Island Job Corps Center is unique, and a part of the National Job Corps largest residential employment and training program. The Center is a residential and non-residential co-educational program which enrolls 600 students.Job Corps is an education and vocational training program administered by the U.S. Department of Labor that helps young people ages 16 through 24 get a better job, make more money and take control of their lives.Job Description:1. Supervise the development of the new Treasure Island Community Farm and its educational agricultural programs.2. Responsible for initial farm construction, budget tracking, and providing supervision and expertise for farm projects, such as installation of garden beds, orchards, irrigation system, composting, etc.3. Considerable knowledge of the techniques and methods involved in planning, organizing and coordinating recruitment and training programs for volunteers and students.4. Responsible for daily maintenance of farm, equipment, and farm’s life-cycle (preparing, tilling, planting, fertilizing, cultivating, spraying, harvesting, etc.).5. Manage garden plot renewals, communicate and enforce greenhouse policies, maintenance schedules, grower responsibilities, and expectations to program participants.6. Develop a horticultural education program to teach Job Corps students about crop farm operations and involve vocational trades in farm’s daily operations.7. Provides initial orientation, screening and training; develops and implements training programs.8. Develops materials, manuals, and resource information for volunteer staff and students.9. Develops and handles volunteer/student work schedules and assignments.10. Maintains records on volunteers and students time contributed to the farm.11. Organize volunteer program to assist with farm’s operation and create marketing program to encourage community participation in the program.12. Establishes and maintains community linkages and serves as the primary contact and resource to outside organizations that want to participate in the farm’s operation.13. Considerable knowledge of available resources within the local Bay Area community.14. Participates in promotional and public relations activities for the Treasure Island Community Farm.15. Develops appreciation and incentive programs for members of the volunteer staff.16. Develops news media announcements and other recruitment information aids such as brochures, newsletters, and fliers.17. Assists in scheduling, designing, planning, developing, staging and staffing special programs and events.18. Ability to plan and organize a variety of programs for groups of various sizes.19. Ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing.20. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with a wide variety of people.21. Manages the overall performance of Treasure Island Job Corps Community Farm.22. Performs other duties as assigned.RequirementsBachelor’s degree in agricultural studies or closely related discipline required. 5 years minimum experience with crop farm operations and management. Previous experience with nutritional education programs, organic crop production, and teaching experience preferred.
